Choose your base to start from

Opening the editor with nothing loaded used to drop you straight into an empty form full of zeros. It now asks where you want to begin.

Start blank, exactly as before, and the chooser gets out of the way. Or start from an existing creature: one of your own, or any of the 329 SRD monsters, searchable by name and filterable by source, size, type and challenge rating, without leaving the editor. Building on one of your own makes a copy, so the original is left alone. You can also import or paste a creature from the same place, or jump back into something you were recently editing.

Press Escape or click outside to skip the whole thing and start blank. Opening the editor also no longer flashes an empty page: the form and statblock have a placeholder while the page loads, instead of a blank gap under the header.
