Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Monsterbrew, including your account, the content you create, and how it may be shared.
Last updated: 2 September 2026
1. Provider and Acceptance
Monsterbrew (the "Service") is operated by an individual developer based in Belgium, referred to as "we" in these terms. For all matters relating to these terms, contact [email protected].
By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Monsterbrew is a free statblock builder for D&D 5e. It is local-first: your creatures are stored in your browser, and the editor, library, and export features work without an account. An account is optional and adds syncing and sharing.
The Service is provided free of charge. We do not guarantee that it will be available at any given time or free of interruptions. We may change the Service, introduce or adjust limits and quotas, or discontinue features, in whole or in part, at any time.
3. Accounts
Accounts are created by signing in with Discord. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.
We may suspend or terminate an account that is used in violation of these terms, as described in Section 6.
4. Your Content
The creatures and other content you create remain your property. We claim no ownership over anything you create, import, or export.
When you sync content to your account, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display that content, solely to the extent needed to operate the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
When you make a creature public or share it by link, you additionally grant other users a licence to view it and to fork it into their own library. A fork is a separate copy belonging to the user who made it; it survives later deletion of the original, and the licence you granted continues to apply to it.
5. Acceptable Use
You may not use the Service to store or share content that infringes intellectual property rights, is unlawful, or is abusive, hateful, or harassing. You are responsible for the content you import into the Service, including content obtained from third-party sources.
You may not scrape the Service, access it through automated means at a volume a person could not produce, abuse the API, or otherwise interfere with its operation.
6. Content Moderation
We may block or remove content, or suspend or terminate an account, where content or conduct violates Section 5 or these terms otherwise. We apply these restrictions diligently, objectively, and proportionately.
Where we block or remove your content or restrict your account, we state the reasons to you. You may appeal a moderation decision by email to [email protected]; we will review the decision and respond.
7. Third-Party Content
The SRD monsters in the library are reproduced from the System Reference Document 5.2.1 by Wizards of the Coast LLC under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License; the full attribution is on the licenses page. Monsterbrew is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Wizards of the Coast LLC.
8. Disclaimers and Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. Content stored locally in your browser is under your control alone: it is your responsibility to back it up, using the export and backup features the Service provides, and we are not able to recover it for you.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for damages arising from the use of this free Service, including loss of data, is excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law, including Belgian consumer law.
9. Termination and Data
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the account settings. We may terminate the agreement as described in Section 6, or by discontinuing the Service with reasonable notice. The consequences of account deletion for your data, including what is removed from our servers and what remains in your browser, are described in the privacy policy.
10. Changes and Governing Law
We may update these terms from time to time, for instance when the Service changes. The current version is always available on this page, together with its revision date.
These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you additionally keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
